Survival — the African concept of resilience!
There is an ancient African proverb which says:
“Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up, it knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn’t matter whether you’re the lion or a gazelle-when the sun comes up, you’d better be running.”
Running, in my opinion, implies that we take responsibility and go for what we believe in. It also refers to working hard towards a brighter future. Many live from one day to the next, and do not always feel responsible for their destiny. They blame almost everything on others or on circumstances. They have excuses for everything.
Owning your day and your problems, keeps you alive!

Resilience: Survival + owning our destiny
